Trolska Skogen is a living fairytale forest in Mellanfjärden between Hudiksvall and Sundsvall.
Nature, fairy tales, folklore, music and song go hand in hand. The first adventure took place in summer 2011 and every year 30-40 000 people visit the magical world.

For 12 years, the non-profit theater association borrowed forests owned by private landowners to put on interactive performances for children.
Starting from scratch in a new forest every summer was frustrating. There was so much to tell and so many more children who wanted to see the adventures than we could accommodate. Nordanstig Municipality exchanged a section of forest that the theater association had leased and then bought. The ultimate goal is for the fairytale forest to become a foundation where the forest and the sites can continue to be cared for and developed and where any future surpluses are reinvested in the local population and nature.
Thanks to a project granted by Leader Hälsingebygden, we were able to build our first permanent playgrounds, at Tomten and Trollen. Region Gävleborg helped us further and 200 volunteers contributed labor and knowledge over five years. Collaborations with companies and organizations that helped us develop in various ways were also crucial.
We hope that Trolska Skogen will give the children a quality experience where we link old and new knowledge where the theater stories are the hub.
We hope that Trolska Skogen will play a crucial role in the development of the village, by creating jobs and inspiring different ways of using the forest. We also want to give local children and young people access to more theater and music.
Today, Trolska Skogen stands on two legs -
The non-profit, where we have courses, take care of the forest and what we have built up together and where we develop the work with children and young people.
The other leg is the economic association where we work on the operation and employment of summer and Christmas staff and development issues.
The ultimate goal is for all of this to become a foundation that continues to work for children and young people, passing on stories about the forest, folklore and nature.
so that everyone who has invested in Trolska Skogen has done so for generations to come.
